“In the Southwest, even the grape varieties are generous. Not all terroirs are equal in this respect, nor are all grape varieties, or winemakers for that matter. Sometimes, one of the best forms of climate insurance is to have a small plot, a little square of Ugni Blanc, which does not rise in alcohol and produces very fine, light wine.
It’s often said that at Yquem, one glass of wine is produced per vine. Here, with Ugni Blanc, it’s more like a case of 12 without any effort and without steroids either :)”
