Indigenous Grape Varieties
In the Southwest, we are lucky to have amazing indigenous grape varieties that are perfectly suited to our terroirs. We’d all leave a Pinot Noir from the Côtes de Nuits or a Merlot from the right bank for 10 or 20 years. Rare are the adventurers who offer 20 years to a Duras, a Fer Servadou, or a Merille - and yet, in the Southwest, we know how to make godly wines, immortals, princes in short trousers at 20 years of age.
Old Clos Baquey, old Plageoles, or old Dupuy wines have this ability to bring everyone together, all creeds combined generally.
Perhaps knowing how to age is something we are good at too.
